I went to 2 Doctors, they both said I would not be able to wear Contacts. A good friend of mine told me of a Terrific Optometrist-Dr. Ronald Henderson. He has 2 offices. I was fitted by Dr. Henderson & till this day they are fine. Last week I had a terrible eye infection, & he said come right in & we'll take care of it. It cleared up in 3 days. Dr. Henderson is very precise, listens, & explains things fully. If we could Bottle-Up his Calm Personality, & make a safe pill everyone could take, it would be a Better World.

He is liked by ALL! Through the years I've gone to both Emily's for glasses, or they've answered my questions, & were so helpful, & knowledgeable. When I had a spontaneous eye hemorrhage while dining at a restaurant on a Holiday weekend, I was thankful that I had an eye doctor I could call in an emergency. Dr. Brody called me within minutes of me leaving a message. He was able to calm me down and ask the appropriate questions and then assure me that I would be fine. Throughout the weekend as my eye became more alarming looking, I texted him pictures and he quickly replied and answered all my questions. Without an appointment on Tuesday following the holiday weekend he saw me immediately and conducted a complete eye exam and pressure check. Dr.Ron Henderson is awesome! He is a rare Master of optometry with years of experience and the willingness to search for just the right fit for his patient's prescription. I was referred by my internist, Dr. Michael Caughron. The referral was a response to my question,"Do you know a good Optometrist?" Dr. Henderson and his staff have exceeded my expectations for a professional, caring and safe facility.

His thoughtful implementation of Covid protections should allow anyone to feel as safe as possible during this time of Covid 19. Every person is interviewed before entering the office. Everyone has their temperature taken. It is mandatory to wear a face mask. Every chair is wiped clean before a person sits in it. Patients leave the building via a separate exit.

His staff is wonderful. I was trying in my new contacts and somehow the lens dropped on the table and bounced onto the floor. The first Assistent tried to find the lens and recruited two more office staff to find the lens. The lens was clear which makes the hard contact lens almost impossible to find. I had given up , but they were successful!!!

I have a difficult prescription and a previous experience of the optometrist giving up on me. Dr. Henderson is patient and exacting and has answered all my many questions. I can now sit enjoying my cappuccino and see clearly three blocks away.

I promise, the glasses journey ends here. If you've been following along, the journey to get my sons' glasses had so many steps.

If you didn't know, now you do! This location for the Optometrists of the North Shore is the second location along with the one in Lake Forest. We got son #1's glasses in Lake Forest, because they don't carry Ray-Bans in Northbrook. When the glasses came in, we only had time to quickly pick them up without an adjustment. But, the good news is that we had a location closer to us for adjustments. Pay attention to the hours, because both locations operate on a different schedule .

The Northbrook location is cute and very small, but they have an adequate parking lot in the back (no parking on Dundee). We contacted them to see if we could come in for a adjustment, because they are closer to our house. They are currently being very careful due to Covid, so they let us know when they had an opening between appointments for this type of service. They called us to let us know if we stopped by in 30 minutes, they could see us. We were there! There is no waiting in the actual office, but there is a small vestibule where you can wait for the next person to come out. That's what we did.

 We had a super friendly attendant who got my son's glasses adjusted, and we were in and out in no time at all.

FYI, they have a great defogger spray they suggest if you're wearing a mask with glasses. We didn't purchase it, but if you're looking for a solution, you're welcome!

I have been seeing Dr. Henderson for a couple of years now and think he does an excellent job. The first time I saw him he actually came into the office early when I called in a panic because I had gotten a piece of wood in my eye one morning (long story, don't put head underneath chairs from West Elm while building them).

Office staff is great, frame selection is very nice, eye exams are always on time. They recently started sending reminders for appointments via text and email, as well as when contacts and frames are available for pick. All great. Would definitely recommend.

Saw Dr. Brody last night for my yearly eye glasses/contacts appointment. I was the last appointment of the day (at 7pm) and even that late at night everyone was very friendly. A lot of times I will like a doctor, but not the support staff... but here, everyone from the person you talk to on the phone to set up the appointment to the doctor himself is really nice. The doctor is in his 30s (I think) and seems very patient and knowledgable. When eye doctors ask "Is lens #1 or #2 clearer?"... I always need a second try. Some doctors are not very patient with this, which frankly, I've never understood. But, the point is, Dr. Brody was very patient. He understood it was important to be sure. He was even thorough enough to verify that my prescription was accurate once I had the new set of lenses in. (It was right!)

Dr. Brody even has the technology to take a digital retnal scan (costs $25 extra but is VERY cool, ok, minus the bright light flashing in your eye part). My last eye doctor in San Francisco didn't even have this technology.

What else? The hours were convenient (I always need evening appointments)... The eye glass selection looked decent. The staff seemed very helpful with trying to figure out my insurance. I have Spectera (United Healthcare Eye Insurance), which they don't take... but oh well. They take VSP and something else which I don't remember. Even still, they were able to give me a slight discount from something they found in my regular BCBS PPO insurance.

Here are the key points:
-- Hours are good (they have evening and Saturday appts
-- Dr. Henderson is really nice and doesn't torture you ... he asks "how far down can you read?" rather than "read the last line on the chart for me". He also explains what he's doing and gives really good answers to questions (although I didn't love hearing that my eyes were getting a bit better because I'm now a bit older)\

I have diplopia, so no "2 pairs + exam for $99.00" deals for me. Drs. Henderson and Brody are the BEST when it comes to my eye health and making sure my prescription is perfect. The staff is phenomenal. I recently mangled my new reading glasses, thought I would have to buy new frames. I stopped in the office on my lunch hour, one of the girls took my sad twisted frame, said let me see what I can do, 10 minutes later, she handed them back to me, good as new. I've been coming to The Optometrists for over a decade now, and I am always impressed. I see them atleast each year for my annual checkup, plus I always seem to get something in my eye where I need to be seen on a more urgent basis. They are always able to fit me so I don't have to suffer long.

Both Dr. Brody and Dr. Henderson are top notch in their fields and it shows! They are both incredibly patient, gentle (for someone who doesn't like others touching their eyes), and they are just all around nice people to interact with. Plus the ladies and gents that work in the office are very pleasant and helpful, which is a big plus. The Northbrook location caries lots of different brands of glasses, and if you're looking for something special they can special order it for you too.

This morning I had my yearly eye doctor appointment and I am extremely impressed with the Optometrists of the North Shore. I didn't have to wait to see the doctor and after my appointment, he gave me a couple free bottles of contact solution as well as a couple free bottles of eye drops.

I told him I desperately needed a new pair of glasses, of which he then suggested I look at the options in their store and that his assistant Emily would provide a second opinion on how they look - which I greatly appreciated!

After bringing my options down to 3 different pairs, Emily grabbed cases for all three, made a note of the styles, and sent me home with them to try them each out for a week - I never thought they would let me do this!
